Picture yourself
at a favorite beachside cottage. Wind at your back, sand in your toes,
relaxing on a sun-faded adirondack chair as the scent of sweet peas and
salt water fill the ocean air.
Welcome to the
artistic world of Jennifer Winship Mark. Her paintings are filled with
rich, saturated color and intricate designs, each capturing the warmth
and beauty of a special moment and place.
Cozy porches,
Mediterranean vistas and coastal retreats are a long way from Jennifer’s
childhood Wyoming. Hers was the only family in the dusty prairie town to
have Rembrant, Renoir, Wyeth and DaVinci on the walls. With the nearest
museum some 600 miles away, these masterpiece reproductions provided the
first sparks of inspiration.
Today, Jennifer Winship
Mark is a master watercolorist as well as a master juggler. When she’s
not with her four children and husband or in the garden, you can find
her in her studio, creating. Like the pictures she paints, her studio is
a vibrant, busy, and magic place filled with photos, books, pressed
flowers, unpainted furniture, jewelry finds, every imaginable medium,
canvases, brushes and other treasures. It’s a comfortable and
nurturing sanctuary in which she never runs out of ideas.
Over the years, the works
of Jennifer Winship Mark have attracted the attention of numerous noted
collectors and are often featured in Northwest galleries, including the
Gango Editions Gallery, the Lawrence Gallery and Portland Art Museum’s
Gallery. Yet despite her gallery success, Jennifer had bucked the
tradition of most regional artists by selling her originals exclusively
through auctions and individual collectors. She is currently showing all
her original watercolor paintings through Global Fine Arts and
has recently released a series of limited edition prints to complement
her original works. Jennifer’s colorful and contemplative images have
developed a wide international following that literally spans the globe.
